GUNTHER Reaches a Big Milestone as WWE Intercontinental Champion

GUNTHER continues to reach new milestones and make history as the WWE Intercontinental Champion.

After finding success in NXT and NXT UK, GUNTHER was called up to the main roster last year. While NXT UK Champion, he held the title for 871 days as he won the gold at NXT TakeOver: New York in 2019 before dropping it to Ilja Dragunov at NXT TakeOver 36 in 2021.

He became the Intercontinental Champion in June 2022, defeating Shinsuke Nakamura for the title. At WrestleMania 39, he defended the title against Drew McIntyre and Sheamus in a triple threat match.

Since then, he defended it against Xavier Woods on an episode of SmackDown and then Mustafa Ali at Night of Champions last month.

GUNTHER recently reached 365 days as the Intercontinental Champion. As seen below, he celebrated the milestone on Twitter:

GUNTHER will surpass Jeff Hardy’s combined reign of 366 days and is likely to surpass Dolph Ziggler’s combined 372 day reign. The Honky Tonk Man holds the reign as the longest reigning IC Champion with 454 days.
