Dakota Kai is going to be on the sidelines for at least the next nine months.
After being released by WWE following a run in NXT, she returned to WWE at last year’s WWE SummerSlam with Bayley and IYO SKY as part of Damage CTRL after Bianca Belair retained the WWE Raw Women’s Title over Becky Lynch.
Throughout their time together, Kai and SKY held the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships on two separate occasions, while Bayley has mostly challenged for the Raw Women’s Title on a few different occasions.
As part of the 2023 WWE Draft, Damage CTRL was drafted to the SmackDown brand from Raw.
However, Kai suffered an injury on the May 12 edition of SmackDown in a tag team match while working with Bayley against Raquel Rodriguez & Liv Morgan for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles.
As previously reported, Morgan also suffered an injury in the match that may cause her to get surgery.
Dave Meltzer reported on F4Wonline.com that Kai suffered a torn ACL in the bout and will have surgery on Tuesday.
