AEW Files Trademark for the Name of a Match Stipulation

AEW has locked down the trademark rights to the name of a match stipulation.

The company filed for “Double Jeopardy” on May 11 under entertainment purposes with The United States Patent and Trademark Office. Here is the description of the filing:

“Entertainment services in the nature of live wrestling performances; Entertainment services in the nature of production of wrestling programs and events; Entertainment services, namely, an ongoing multimedia program featuring wrestling distributed via various platforms across multiple forms of transmission media.”

This match stipulation sees two champions face each other, with the winner earning a shot at the title of the losing competitor.

The first Double Jeopardy match happened last week on Dynamite when ROH World Champion Claudio Castagnoli wrestled ROH Tag Team Champion Rey Fenix. In the end, Claudio went over to earn an ROH Tag Team Title bout against the Lucha Brothers.
