WWE will bring back former talent to use them in various roles, some of which is in a Producer/Coach role where they serve as an agent of a match or segment. Their job is to help explain what creative wants from the wrestlers in the segment. In the instances of matches, they will help come up with the story of the match and finish.
For Saturday’s Backlash PLE, former WWE star Brian Kendrick was brought back as a Producer.
After getting his release from WWE in February 2022, he was supposed to make his AEW debut a day after the release was granted, but that was nixed once fans posted old clips of him giving conspiracy theories related to the Holocaust and more.
Last November, Kendrick was back in WWE at Survivor Series, working as a producer alongside Jason Jordan for the SmackDown Women’s Title match between Ronda Rousey and Shotzi. This surprised a lot of people, not only just fans but those in WWE. It was later reported that Rousey asked for Kendrick to be used as a Producer as a one-off.
Pwinsider reports Kendrick worked as a Producer at Backlash along with Jamie Noble to produce the San Juan Street Fight between Bad Bunny and Damian Priest.
It’s unclear whether this was a tryout or if Kendrick is already back with the company full time.
