AEW’s Jon Moxley is returning to NJPW

Top AEW star Jon Moxley is returning to New Japan Pro Wrestling.

Moxley hasn’t wrestled in Japan for the promotion since February 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic when he defended the IWGP United States Championship against Minoru Suzuki.

The promotion confirmed on Wednesday during Wrestling Dontaku that the former IWGP United States Champion is set to return on Sunday, June 4, at Dominion.

To announce the news, there was a video of Moxley announcing he was coming as a backup for Shota “Shooter” Umino.

This dates back to June 2019, ironically at Dominion, as Moxley wrestled Umino, marking Moxley’s second match with the promotion following his departure from WWE earlier that year.

NJPW Dominion takes place at Osaka-jo Hall. It will stream live on New Japan World.

All Elite Wrestling has yet to confirm what Moxley will be doing on tonight’s Dynamite, although The Elite, a group that Moxley’s Blackpool Combat Club has been feuding with as of late, is set to speak.
