Bill DeMott comments on allegations made against him while he was in WWE, Vince McMahon selling to Endeavor

In an exclusive for WrestlingNews.co, Steve Fall spoke with former WCW/WWE star Bill Demott (aka Hugh Morrus).

These days, DeMott is a “Public Speaker, Traffic Safety Advocate, Victims Advocate, TV Personality, and Founder of The Keri Anne DeMott Foundation.” The charity was started after his daughter Keri Anne was killed by a drunk driver in 2015. Bill DeMott on WWE’s sale to Endeavor:

“I thought when the initial stuff with Vince happened and Vince had stepped away, that’s the first time I honestly thought this could become a thing. This could be a selling point. When Vince came back and got control, then you knew it was gonna happen. You just didn’t know when. The thing that really struck me was I thought it was a good year, WrestleMania, but it’s like night two never happened because the first thing that came out after night one was that the company was sold, so that was the talk, and that’s still the talk of everything. People are trashing the product, and ‘Oh, this is going to happen’, and all of that. There’s a lot of peoples’ livelihoods on the line with this thing, but you can’t argue with borrowing and buying it for a million and selling it for 9.1 billion.”

On the allegations against him while working at WWE:

“When I took over FCW which then turned into NXT, I already knew it had a shelf life before social media and all these things. The funny thing about the allegations was when they came out the first time, there was a full investigation. The company comes out and says, ‘We found none of this to hold any water’, but social media was so on fire that they didn’t want the heat and I don’t blame them. NXT was just starting to tour the states before it became really big, so we were on our first tour of the states outside of Florida.”

“I made a promise to Triple H. I know what the business is. I’ve been through it. I’ve been through the goods and bads, the ups and downs, and I would never do anything to embarrass him or this company. So when everything came about, you have two options. Fight and add fuel to the fire because now you’re going to be spending all your time doing that which means you can’t do your job, which means nobody’s focused on what they’re doing, or you go, ‘You know what? I appreciate the time. I’m gonna step away and let everybody keep moving on.’”
