Wardlow hasn’t been seen on AEW television in a month because he’s sidelined with an injury.
Wardlow fell short when he challenged Samoa Joe for the TNT Title on the New Year’s Smash edition of AEW Dynamite on December 28 by “referee’s decision” in a bout that only lasted two minutes.
Post-match, Wardlow was written off television as Joe did a beat down and added insult to injury when he cut off the man’s ponytail. Since then, Wardlow hasn’t been seen on television.
In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that Wardlow is dealing with an injury, and that’s why he’s been absent.
Meltzer wrote, “the reason he hasn’t been back for revenge and dropped the TNT title is due to an injury issue. The stuff with Joe was done to set up his taking time off. The injury is not believed to be one that will keep him out of action for a long time.”
It’s still unclear when the revenge bout will happen, but AEW does hold its Revolution PPV event next month.
