Alexander Hammerstone will be defending his MLW Championship at Blood and Guts against YAMATO in Philadelphia on January 7th at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia. In an exclusive for WrestlingNews.co, he spoke with Steve Fall’s Ten Count to promote the show.
Hammerstone talking about representing MLW as the champion:
“It’s definitely a huge responsibility. There’s a joke in wrestling, like everybody wants to be the top guy until they’re the top guy because it does come with extra responsibilities, the extra main event matches, going on last, doing the press through the media, making sure you make extra time for fans. The eyes are on you. The scrutiny is extra heavy, but it’s a workload well embraced by myself, because it’s something I’ve worked very hard for a very long time to get to this point. So I’m happy to do it.”
On his upcoming match with YAMATO at Blood and Guts January 7th::
“Over the past couple of months, you’ve seen me have to do things like no disqualification match with Pegano, a Falls Count Anywhere match with Richard Holiday, and things of this nature, but my bread and butter is a technical wrestling match the middle of the wrestling ring, especially when you talk about some of these flavors where you bring in the international guys. My best work I’ve done was in Japan working that style and adapting to that. So getting to bring some of that over stateside and present it in MLW, that’s a treat for me. I think it’s going to be a treat for the fans. It’s going to be a main event you know, it’s going to be a high level high energy match.”
