Identity of Swerve Strickland’s new AEW faction member revealed

Wednesday’s episode of AEW Dynamite saw Swerve Strickland attack Keith Lee, then form The Mogul Affiliates with Parker Boudreaux and an unidentified man sporting tattoos and braids. It looks like rapper Rick Ross, who dropped an F-bomb during the segment, will be a regular mouthpiece for the group.

The segment was supposed to see Ross mediate the face-to-face meeting between Lee and Strickland.

Strickland warned Lee that he needed to keep eyes in the back of his head, leading to Boudreaux attacking Lee from behind. Lee ended up taking out Boudreaux, only for a mystery man to attack Lee. They placed on the steel ring steps, with a cinder block on his chest, so that Strickland could smash it with a double stomp.

Fightful Select reports the new member is a 6-foot-4, 30-year-old named Granden Goetzman, who went by “Human Bazooka” while playing ball. He was the second-round draft pick for the MLB’s Tampa Bay Rays in 2011, and he played pro ball up until last year when he played in Mexico. The outfielder made it to the farm systems for the St. Louis Cardinals and the Houston Astros until 2019, but didn’t make it to the major leagues.

Goetzman has been training for pro wrestling at The Wrestling Lab in Pinellas County, Florida, a wrestling school run by Jay Lethal, David Mercury (David Olivieri), and Big Kon.

Goetzman’s AEW debut was planned out at least a few weeks in advance, and he was also backstage at the Dynamite show on October 12. The report added that he has been with the company for quite some time, anticipating his debut.
