Backstage WWE reaction to Vince McMahon’s potential return is not good

Vince McMahon may be plotting his return to WWE but it doesn’t look like many in the company will be thrilled to see him back in power.

The Wall Street Journal reported earlier today that McMahon has told people that he plans on returning to the company and he is under the belief that he got bad advice when it was suggested that he should step away from his role as CEO of WWE.

The WSJ story added that former referee Rita Chatterton has filed a lawsuit for the alleged 1986 rape by McMahon and he is accused of assaulting a spa manager in 2011. The allegations would seemingly make it more difficult for McMahon to return but it appears that he will not be deterred.

Fightful reported today that one WWE talent called the news “exhausting” and this person was hopeful that Vince’s tenure was “in the rear view.” The person who said this had a positive relationship with McMahon. Another person expressed concern about some of the talent that was re-hired by Triple H. Many of the names brought back in recent months were let go by the Vince McMahon regime.

However, a higher up was said to not be as concerned and this person pointed to the stock price increase, the boost in the viewership, and better morale backstage after Vince left. The source did not believe that Vince would be back and they noted that it would be “selfish” of him to do so. Similar sentiments were echoed by a longtime staffer.

Fightful added that over a dozen people were spoken with and it was unanimous that McMahon should not be brought back.
