Backstage news on morale in WWE since Vince McMahon’s departure

The backstage atmosphere in WWE is said to be much better in recent months and it’s no coincidence that improvements happened after Vince McMahon’s departure.

Fightful Select reports that backstage morale has “improved significantly” after Vince stepped down and members of the locker room say that backstage culture has changed for the better.

In the 80s, 90s, and 2000s it was essentially the wild west backstage and if you upset the wrong person, your push would be derailed and at worst you would be let go. That culture has improved in the past decade but in recent years there have been many reports about Vince’s erratic decisions affecting the shows and the morale would take a hit at different times.

Fightful Select reports that “almost everyone” they spoke with said that going to work these days in the post-Vince McMahon era is more fun and easy going and there is less of a feeling that you could get fired for things you can’t control.

While there is a feeling that some talent is not being used effectively, things are vastly improved backstage from where things were in the summer. It was added that numerous talent looked at Royal Rumble 2022 as an all-time low for them in the company from a creative/booking standpoint and some lost faith in McMahon as a leader in some sense.

At the Rumble is when there were said to have been issues between Vince and Shane McMahon that led to Shane’s exit from the company. In recent years, there has been frustration from talent because of the constant changes that were made before shows and sometimes when shows were on the air.

It appears that things are no longer so frenetic backstage and Fightful adds that there is still optimism about Triple H’s booking, despite some hiccups. Click here for more backstage WWE news.
