WWE star Cody Rhodes responded to a tweet from a fan about Cody’s reason for leaving AEW.
One story that has made the rounds over the last few months claims that Cody had a rift with The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega and they are the reason why he left AEW.
Another story that has picked up steam in recent weeks claims that Rhodes had issues with CM Punk. There have also been stories about money and the way he was booked.
Rhodes stated on Twitter that none of those things are the reason why he left AEW and he is forever bonded to The Elite. In regards to Punk, Rhodes said that they got along. He also added that his departure had nothing to do with money or booking and it was just a personal issue.
Dave Meltzer said on the latest Wrestling Observer Radio that Rhodes told him that it was time to leave the territory. In other words, he did what his father did and what many wrestlers did when it was time for a change of scenery.
Rhodes’ tweet is below:
“I didn’t leave because of the Bucks/Kenny. I’m forever bonded to those men over what we created and I remain very proud of it, and I didn’t leave because of/or have issues with Punk. We got along. Not money, not booking, just a personal issue and my wanting to go for the big one.”
