John Cena to star with Idris Elba in Amazon’s ‘Heads of State’ movie

John Cena has his next project lined up as he and Idris Elba have signed on to star in Ilya Naishuller’s, director of “Nobody,” next film.

Amazon Studios picked up the rights for “Heads of State” during a competitive Zoom presentation in October 2020. The Hollywood Reporter reported the news.

Peter Safran, co-chair and co-CEO of DC Studios, and John Rickard are producing via The Safran Company. Harrison Query, who recently set up My Wife and I Bought a Ranch, wrote the initial script, while Josh Appelbaum & André Nemec who worked on the recently wrapped Beverly Hills Cop reboot, penned the latest draft.

The movie is described as “Air Force One meets Midnight Run,” centered on a mismatched pair who are in over their heads in a high-stakes situation.

The former WWE Champion has recently wrapped up filming movies such as The Independent, Snafu, Coyote v. Acme, Argylle, and Freelance while he is currently filming Honeymoon Friends.
