Jeff Hardy’s pre-trial hearing pushed back as a potential resolution is negotiated

An interesting development has happened in Jeff Hardy’s legal situation after his pre-trial hearing today in Florida didn’t take place after his attorneys filed a motion asking for the hearing to be pushed back, which prosecutors agreed to.

PWinsider.com reports that the motion noted Hardy’s attorneys “recently provided extensive mitigation materials to the counsel for the State” and that “The parties require additional time to negotiate a potential pretrial resolution.” This would seemingly indicate that the two sides are working on a plea agreement that would prevent a trial.

The court did sign off on the motion, which pushed the pre-trial hearing back to November 17th.

Hardy was arrested this past June and charged with DUI (Alcohol or Drugs), third offense within ten years, driving while license canceled/suspended/revoked, and violation of restrictions placed on driver’s license.

The primary charge under Florida law is a felony and is punishable up to five years in prison, should Hardy be convicted, while the others would fall under misdemeanors. He has pleaded not guilty.

Jeff’s brother Matt Hardy recently stated that fans would see a new Jeff Hardy when he eventually returns. Hardy has been in treatment “for some time” after his arrest because AEW President Tony Khan wants Hardy to show that he can maintain his sobriety. Hardy isn’t expected back in AEW until the legal situation is over.
