There is a lot of concern in WWE about the severity of Randy Orton’s injury

Randy Orton has been away from WWE television since May with a back injury.

His last match happened on the May 20 episode of Friday Night SmackDown when RK-Bro dropped the Raw Tag Team Titles to The Usos in a unification match. Post-match, Orton was laid out by The Bloodline to write him off television.

It was later reported that Orton was dealing with a serious back injury that WWE feared would cause him to undergo surgery and likely be out of action for the rest of the year.

In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that “there is a lot of concern regarding Orton’s back injury and its severity.”

It’s unclear what the exact injury is and whether Orton has undergone surgery. He’s been with the company since 2001, and after being put in Evolution, WWE has used him as a top star for the last 20 years, having several high-profile matches with the likes of Triple H, John Cena, and The Undertaker.

Orton previously talked about being in a tag team with Matt Riddle reignited his passion for the business.
