Backstage news on changes made to Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite

It was expected that Hurricane Ian would cause AEW to make changes to this week’s Dynamite from the Liacouras Center in Philadelphia, PA as talent who lived in Florida weren’t required to be at the show because of the storm.

Fightful Select reports that a few absences related to the storm led to “big changes” to the planned show.

Swerve Strickland was scheduled to work the show but could not travel to Philadelphia. His partner Keith Lee was solo and did a backstage segment with AEW World Tag Team Champions The Acclaimed.

Lee accused Billy Gunn of costing them the AEW World Tag Team Titles at Grand Slam and said they got carried. Lee then wished them good luck and walked off.

ROH World Television Champion Samoa Joe was also unable to make the show, which was ROH-heavy. Joe planned to be a part of those happenings.

Joe last wrestled at last week’s Grand Slam Rampage taping by teaming with AEW TNT Champion Wardlow for a win over Josh Woods and Tony Nese.
