Details on how much AEW is paying MJF after pay raise

MJF made his return to AEW television at All Out by being revealed as the joker in the Casino Ladder match after being away for several months following his memorable promo where he demanded that AEW President Tony Khan fire him.

While speaking with Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour this past week, the top AEW star stated that he’s now making “a stupid, absurd amount of money” with AEW but is doing so without signing a contract extension.

In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that MJF is making more than $1 million per year.

MJF originally signed with AEW in 2019 but has been frustrated over the last several months because of how he’d risen up the card and outperformed his original deal. His contract is slated to expire in January 2024.

He has referred to this as “The Bidding War of 2024” between AEW and WWE. MJF has also stated in interviews that he will go to any promotion that pays him the most money.

The belief is that MJF will challenge AEW World Champion Jon Moxley in the near future because of his All Out victory. It’s unclear when that match will take place, but AEW’s next pay-per-view event, Full Gear, takes place in November.
