Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat is returning to the ring

Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat is stepping back into the ring one more time.

The pro wrestling legend is slated to wrestle for Big Time Wrestling on November 27 at Raleigh, North Carolina’s Dorton Arena. His opponent at the show was not announced.

“Ricky Steamboat is one of the greatest all-time, and we’re excited to bring a legend back to the ring,” Big Time Wrestling co-owner Steve Perkins told Sport Illustrated on Thursday. “Interest will be high, and ticket sales will begin today.”

Steamboat last wrestled in 2010 in a tag team match with his son, Richie Steamboat, against The Dudebusters’ Caylen Croft and Trent Barreta at an independent show. His last singles match was against Drew McIntyre in 2009 at a WWE house show.

Steamboat returned to in-ring action after not wrestling for 15 years at WrestleMania 25 in 2009, where he teamed with Roddy Piper and Jimmy Snuka in a three-on-one handicap elimination match against Chris Jericho. Steamboat was praised for his performance so much by fans and those in WWE that it led to a singles match later that month against Jericho at the Backlash pay-per-view. Steamboat had previously retired in 1994 due to a back injury.

Steamboat declined to be part of Ric Flair’s last match at Starrcast V in July. Flair teamed with son-in-law Andrade instead against Jeff Jarrett and Jay Lethal.
