Malakai Black pulled from Northeast Wrestling show due to health issues

Malakai Black will no longer be appearing at Friday’s Northeast Wrestling show.

The promotion announced on Wednesday that Black was pulled from the event “due to health issues” after being advertised to face Matt Taven. The promotion has booked Jay Lethal and nZo as replacements.

“Due to health issues @malakaiblxck will not be appearing for @northeastwrestling @mvscrappers this Friday night at Eastwood Field in #nilesohio,Replacing him are @aew star @thelethaljay & @real1 fka NZO!!”

Other top matches for this show include John Morrison vs. Brian Pillman Jr, Penta Oscuro vs. Derek Dillenger, Jerry Lawler vs. Man Dime Elijah Dean, and more.

As previously reported, the belief among AEW talent is that Black has been released although AEW has not officially announced his departure. Raj Giri first reported that Black requested his release, but it was denied at the time.

His last match was at All Out when House of Black lost to Sting, Miro, and Darby Allin. Post-match, Black took a bow and blew a kiss to the fans, which led to speculation that it was Black saying goodbye to AEW and its fans.
