Injured WWE Star Is Not Expected Back By The End Of The Year

WWE will be without one of its best wrestlers for a while due to injury.

That star is Asuka, who has been sidelined after undergoing knee surgery. It all started in March when fans saw her limp during the closing moments of an episode of SmackDown, as she had been teaming Damage CTRL’s IYO SKY and Kairi Sane in losses to Bianca Belair, Naomi, and Zelina Vega at WWE house shows.

There was a concern that Asuka may have been dealing with an injury, as Asuka seemed to have a leg injury in the main event segment where Damage CTRL beatdown Bayley. She continued to work matches, including at Backlash France in April, losing the WWE Women’s Tag Team titles to Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill.

After she announced she was taking a break due to the knee injury, she got the surgery and began doing rehab. She has documented her journey through various vlogs on her YouTube channel.

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select reported in a Q&A that Asuka won’t be back inside the ring by the end of the year.

“[Asuka is] not expected back by the end of the year, according to people in WWE. But anything can happen. [I] don’t know the type of surgery yet.”
