In-Ring Return Of AEW Star Has Been Delayed Due To Complexity Of Injury

AEW is starting to regain some of its star power, with talent on the sidelines except for one name.

Adam Cole is still on the road to recovery after suffering a broken ankle. He has been sidelined since the AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam special after he sustained the injury while running to the ring during the World Title match between MJF and Samoa Joe as he jumped off the entrance ramp to the floor at ringside and began limping.

At the time, Cole and MJF were slated to defend the ROH Tag Team Titles at AEW WrestleDream, but MJF went forward with the title defense in a handicap match and retained the titles. Cole remained on television for a while while doing segments with Roderick Strong at Strong’s home.

After being revealed as The Devil at Worlds End, Cole disappeared from TV, laying out MJF after losing the World Heavyweight Title. MJF got his revenge at Double Or Nothing when he laid out his former tag team partner.

In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that “because of the complexity of the injury, there’s still a little time left out of action, but he hopes it’s not much longer.

The good news is that Cole can walk now and continue to regain mobility. We wish him a speedy recovery.
