WWE May Be Adding A Ref Cam Soon

WWE is on fire right now, business-wise. They’re making more money than ever, and interest in the promotion hasn’t been this hot for decades.

As the promotion heads towards new chapters, with SmackDown going from FOX to the USA Network, NXT leaving USA for The CW in the fall, and Raw heading to Netflix in January, WWE wants to keep the momentum going.

One idea for the production side could give fans a look even closer to the in-ring action. Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select reported that “another element discussed of late has been the utilization of a ref cam, which could make its way on screen soon.”

WCW previously utilized the refer-eye cam during the early 1990s. This has been used in other sports, including MMA, during the peak of the PRIDE days. WWE is fresh off its Money in the Bank and Heatwave PLEs, both highly praised shows.
