CM Punk Spotted At The WWE Performance Center Ahead Of Expected SummerSlam Match

It’s looking more likely that fans are weeks away from seeing CM Punk compete again in a WWE ring.

Punk suffered a torn triceps while competing in the Men’s Royal Rumble Match that Cody Rhodes won. Since then, he has been feuding with McIntyre, and he has cost the fellow former WWE Champion the World Heavyweight Title on three separate occasions. WWE has been building up to a match for SummerSlam, but it hasn’t been made official due to Punk not being medically cleared.

PWInsider.com first reported on Wednesday that Punk was in Orlando, FL, at the Performance Center to work out in the ring as he tries to get medically cleared in time for SummerSlam. While speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer confirmed PWInsider.com’s report about Punk being at the training facility.

Meltzer said, “And the McIntyre thing is it’s an angle. However, Punk is working on getting cleared. That might even taken place today because he was in Orlando. But he was not cleared as of Monday. But he was expected to be cleared. They were going with the idea he would be cleared. So Punk and McIntyre is likely the match. I can’t say 100% because he isn’t cleared, but it’s likely the direction.”

Punk will be on Monday’s episode of Raw, which could be when the company announces Punk vs. McIntyre for SummerSlam.
