Backstage News On When MVP’s WWE Deal Expires

Wrestling fans have been buzzing about Bobby Lashley and MVP’s decisions to leave WWE, with the expectation that they’re AEW-bound to reform The Hurt Business with Shelton Benjamin.

The group won’t be complete as Cedric Alexander remains under contract with WWE, where he’s recently been teaming with Ashante Thee Adonis on dark matches. They may have some challenges with using the group’s name as WWE still owns its trademark rights. When the news broke, it was only reported that Lashley and MVP were leaving soon, but no other details were given.

PWInsider.com reports MVP’s deal is up in mid-August, and there haven’t been any talks of a new deal. For Lashley, WWE made him an offer, but it wasn’t one that immediately made him “jump to sign,” as described by one source. It’s still unclear exactly when Lashley’s deal will be up.

The report noted, “There had been some talk about potentially using him as a Producer or announcer, but nothing ever really came about in either role, although there we are told there was some sort of tryouts at some point.  WWE still has MVP listed under the Misc. section of their internal talent list.”

Lashley last wrestled in May. Tamina’s future in wrestling is unknown at this time as she is another WWE star who is expected to leave soon.
