WBD-AEW Deal Is Expected But Nothing “Imminent”

AEW’s TV rights deal has been a hot topic among fans as it expires with Warner Bros. Discovery at the end of this year. WBD has been the TV partner of AEW since the promotion launching in 2019 as the juggernaut of a media company took a chance on them with little track history.

According to a report by SEScoops, an agreement has been tentatively reached, and things could change as they enter final talks. It was said that the deal would also bring AEW content, including pay-per-views, to the MAX streaming platform.

Fightful Select reports that while a deal is expected, nothing has been reached yet and sources close to WBD say there is nothing “imminent,” meaning over the next few days. Either company is said not to be planning an announcement, as neither side has agreed to the framework of a deal. However, they both expect the relationship to continue with a deal being reached.

It should be noted that Tony Khan and David Zaslav are both scheduled to be in Paris for the Olympics, and they plan to meet, something that has been planned for months. It’s not a guarantee they’ll reach a deal there. While an offer has likely been made, it was stressed that there is no agreement in place.
