CM Punk And WWE Working On A New Deal At This Point Was Always Expected

There have been a lot of conflicting reports about CM Punk’s WWE deal, but what is clear is Punk won’t be going anywhere anytime soon.

The confusion all started when it was initially reported that Punk was trying to restructure his WWE deal after his return to WWE in November at the Survivor Series PLE. However, Ibou of WrestlePurists, who first reported the news about Punk, also noted that he believed Punk is currently under a 3-year deal. PWInsider.com also confirmed that.

Dave Meltzer later reported that Punk is under a short-term deal with rollovers that is expiring, and the two sides are working on an extension. WWE may add more time to the deal due to missed time due to injury.

PWInsider.com had a detailed report noting Punk’s current deal. The two sides are talking about a new deal, and WWE approached Punk about working out a new deal. It was said that because of the amount of interest and business he has generated, they want to do a bigger deal with more inclusions. This was also something WrestleVotes confirmed.

In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that They are in talks about a new, more detailed deal as the original deal came together over the course of a few days.

Meltzer wrote about the two sides talking about a new deal: “This was expected to happen from the start and not something like he’s trying to renegotiate now that he’s in a hot program. It was something always expected to happen if things went well at this time.”

Punk is slated to wrestle Drew McIntyre in a singles bout at SummerSlam next Saturday.
