Beth Phoenix Confirms She’s No Longer With WWE

Beth Phoenix has recently confirmed she’s a free agent and is done with WWE after being with the company on an on-and-off basis for years.

Phoenix signed with WWE in 2004, where she placed in OVW before being called up to the main roster in 2007. She retired in 2012. During her time with WWE, she was a three-time Women’s Champion and a one-time Divas Champion. She was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2017.

She worked several one-off matches and was a color commentator for WWE NXT. She departed from that role in 2021. Phoenix’s last match was in February 2023 at the Elimination Chamber PLE, where she and Adam Copeland beat Finn Balor and Rhea Ripley in a mixed-tag team match.

PWInsider.com reported last month that her contract had expired. Phoenix had not publicly commented on the news until she appeared on the latest episode of Insight with Chris Van Vliet, where she was asked whether she was under contract with WWE.

Phoenix said, “I am not. I am currently a free agent. I have a great relationship with WWE. I treasured my time there. I feel like there’s more. There’s other opportunities that have presented themselves. I feel the motivation right now to kind of explore and explore what else is out there and explore myself but my relationship with WWE hasn’t changed. I have so many friends there and I appreciate and I enjoy the product as I always have and I love NXT, I have a special place in my heart for NXT of course and just the system and seeing young people come up and go through that excitement of developing themselves for the big time. I love WWE. I always will.”

Phoenix added that she hasn’t closed the door on the idea of opening a wrestling school.
