Anyone who has been following the changes in WWE under the Triple H era knows that the morale is much better than it was under Vince McMahon.
In general, the talent is working less dates and they are able to spend more time at home with their family. Things are said to be much better backstage and wrestlers are no longer walking on eggshells and CM Punk recently said that there’s an app that the talent uses where they can request time off. ‘
During the pre-show before Bash in Berlin, Randy Orton praised the positive changes that have happened under Triple H. Jonathan Coachman chimed in and mentioned that when he was with the company (under Vince), he was punished for not going to Afghanistan. Coach said the following:
“Damn is Randy right. In my 10 years I missed ONE Monday night which was for my honeymoon. I was punished for not going to Afghanistan because my daughter was due and my wife didn’t want me to go. I also believe it’s the reason a lot of wrestlers are not here today because of the pressure to wrestle through injuries and do anything in their power to keep their positions. So glad that THAT part of the WWE has changed.”
Sadly, Coach is right about wrestlers who are no longer here because of the brutal schedule. In the 80’s and early 90’s, it was not uncommon for wrestlers to be on the road for more than 300 days per year. The schedule was still rough in the 2000’s. That has changed a lot and the culture behind the scenes has changed dramatically to the point where we are no longer hearing crazy stories about things happening on the road with drugs and alcohol.
