WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event will return.
As first reported by WrestleVotes, WWE confirmed today its first NBC primetime special since 2008. The specials ran on NBC from 1985 to 1991 in place of Saturday Night Live. In 1992, WWE aired the special on FOX before it disappeared.
WWE brought it back in prime time in March 2006 when it returned to NBCU for Raw on USA Network. That lasted until August 2008.
Variety reports the special will air live on NBC and simulcast on Peacock on Dec. 14 at 8 p.m. ET. from the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum on Long Island, N.Y. This is the site of the first-ever “Saturday Night’s Main Event” back in 1985.
Tickets go on sale via Ticketmaster on Sept. 20 at 10 a.m. ET. Presale begins Sept. 19 at 10 a.m. ET.

September 17, 2024 – WWE®, part of TKO Group Holdings (NYSE: TKO), and NBC announce the return of the iconic Saturday Night’s Main Event, which will air live on Saturday, December 14 at 8 p.m. ET on NBC and simulcast on Peacock. The special will be held at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum on Long Island, N.Y., the site of the first-ever Saturday Night’s Main Event.
This marks the first primetime special, which will air quarterly on NBC and Peacock, as part of WWE’s new, five-year domestic media rights partnership with NBCUniversal, which officially kicked off last Friday with SmackDown on USA Network.

Saturday Night’s Main Event originally premiered on NBC in May of 1985.
