Mercedes Mone: Megan Thee Stallion Did A Song With WWE. I Think We Can’t Do Anything Together

Mercedes Mone had been looking to get a match out of hip-hop star Megan Thee Stallion, whether that be a tag team or singles match, before a deal was done between the musician and WWE.

Mone and Stallion met at the Crunchyroll Anime Awards in Japan, as they were fans of each other. This opened up talks between their managers about working together. While speaking with TMZ Sports, Mone said she hopes to wrestle with or against Stallion.

Stallion’s song Neva Play is now the opening theme for WWE SmackDown on the USA Network. As previously reported by PWInsider.com, there were expectations that Stallion would partner with Mone in AEW. After the two sides had agreed to do “something together,” Mone went public with the idea of getting the star in the ring.

Per the report, WWE making the deal to have Stallion’s song Neva Play surprised Mone’s circle. Mone acknowledged the story about a deal that was on the table to work Stallion in her newsletter.

While speaking on The Breakfast Club, Mone was asked about a potential collaboration with Stallion. She said, “Not right now. Unfortunately, no.”

Mone was then asked what the collaboration was supposed to be. Mone responded, “Something fun, either a tag team match, a wrestling match, something…..either wrestle with me or wrestle against me, but there was talks of doing something fun with her, but now she’s doing the opening theme song for SmackDown, which is awesome.”

Finally, Mone was asked why they weren’t working together. Mone stated, “Just brand-wise, she did a song with WWE, and I’m with AEW, so I just think we can’t do anything together.”
