WWE Is Reportedly Interested In Bringing Back AEW Star

Although WWE has interest in bringing back an AEW star, it looks like that will have to wait.

WWE is reportedly interested in bringing back Malakai Black, who joined All Elite Wrestling shortly after he departed from WWE. Black formed a tag team with Brody King called the Kings of the Black Throne before bringing in Buddy Matthews as House of Black, where they competed in the trios division shortly after his arrival.

The group also helped launch the rise of former TBS Champion Julia Hart. Black’s last match was on Rampage last week when he and Matthews teamed up to win over Action Andretti and Lio Rush.

Earlier this week, Wrestling Inc. founder Raj Giri reported that Black’s contract will expire soon. In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that WWE wants him back.

Meltzer added, “The report was his deal is up in early 2025, although like with Fenix they may have some time they can tack on due to his being out of action, but it wouldn’t be that long.”

Black’s wife, Zelina Vega, works for WWE and has plenty of friends in the company, including CM Punk. He was one of the names that Triple H tried to hire back when he took over WWE creative. Black has yet to comment on his contract status.
