WWE is just days away from having an absent star make his return to television.
Ahead of that return, AJ Styles worked house show matches on Saturday night from Columbus, GA, and Sunday in Huntsville, AL. This is where he put over Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes in the main event.

Styles has been away from television since putting over Rhodes at the Clash at the Castle event in June. Following that, Styles has worked a pro wrestling NOAH event and worked shows as part of WWE’s Japan tour in July and the Europe tour in August.
In early August, it was reported Styles was initially planned for an early August episode of SmackDown. However, plans changed as it was reported that WWE planned to bring him back to TV ahead of the WWE Bash in Berlin.
WWE has confirmed Styles will make his TV return this Friday on SmackDown.
