There’s been a lot of criticism from some about the wrestling media and the questions or sometimes certain questions that aren’t asked at the WWE and AEW media scrums after PLE/PPV events.
On the latest “Extreme Life of Matt Hardy” podcast, Matt Hardy explained how he feels wrestling should be covered and if media scrums should take place after big shows:
“I think pro wrestling should be covered as an entertainment event more than anything else. I think it is absolutely fine if you have people that are more into the sports side of it, and they want to rank matches via star ratings or how great they were, the quality of it, but at the end of the day, wrestling is entertainment and we are manufacturing fights to to make people believe that we are having this legitimate story and for them to become emotionally attached to it. I think at the end of the day, entertainment is the best way to cover it. If you want to get down and break it down in the real nitty gritty, I guess there is a place for that, but I don’t necessarily think that always belongs directly after a huge show, like, I don’t want to hear about how the sausage is made and how this angle came to be, and how or why this story was done, why this guy gigged or did whatever. I don’t want to compromise the magic, especially if you’ve had a home run or a grand slam of a show.”
