WWE Is Still Considering The Idea Of Adding Third Hour To SmackDown

There has been a lot of talk about WWE SmackDown adding a third hour, which isn’t a done deal just yet, and the run time of Raw when it moves to Netflix.

WrestleVotes Radio first reported that SmackDown will move to three hours starting on January 3rd. According to their sources, the plan is to move to two hours in June 2025. USA Network is pushing for the third hour, just like they did with Raw in 2012.

Earlier this month, Raw returned to a two-hour format with the idea to make it a three-hour format starting in January when they move to Netflix. While speaking on an episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted WWE was in talks with USA Network about the third hour of SmackDown.

In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported “Regarding the length of time of Raw and SmackDown come January, officially in both cases, this is stuff under discussion.”

A month ago, he was under the impression that WWE doesn’t need to have a set time for Raw on Netflix; it can vary depending on the week and their plans. However, it’s still under discussion.

Regarding SmackDown, the USA and WWE still need to make a deal if both sides want to continue with another hour.
