Nixed TNA Pitch For AJ Styles Revealed

While AJ Styles had a strong run in NJPW and a great career in WWE, some fans will remember him for his TNA days. He was one of the first stars to be part of the promotion when it launched in 2002.

Styles left TNA in 2014 before going to ROH and later NJPW. He made his WWE debut in 2016, starting on the main roster. On Saturday, TNA held its Hall of Fame, inducting Bob Ryder and Rhino.

There were other considerations, as Fightful Select reports AJ Styles and Monty Brown were both considered. The door isn’t closed on those possibilities, as it was noted that the possibility of Styles was broached by WWE, which passed on the opportunity.

The report noted, “We weren’t told specifically why, but people in TNA believe it’s due to AJ’s injury or active storyline.” It was said that Styles might be open to wrestling, but it’s unclear whether that was ever discussed.

This is just a snippet of the story. For complete details, please visit Fightful Select at Patreon.com/Fightful.
