Last night on WWE Friday Night SmackDown, CM Punk revealed that Paul Heyman owes him an undisclosed favor. The revelation immediately caught the attention of Roman Reigns, who demanded clarification. A visibly apprehensive Heyman, however, deflected, insisting on prioritizing the upcoming Survivor Series: WarGames premium live event.
The prevailing theory among fans on social media is that the favor involves a future match between Punk and Reigns. There is history between them since it was Punk who introduced The Shield in 2012.
While speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer talked about WWE’s plans to eventually do a Punk vs. Reigns match.
“I would think down the road,” Meltzer said about the match happening. “Put it this way, when Punk came in, he came in for a match with Seth Rollins for WrestleMania. Obviously, it didn’t happen and everyone knows why. That was the plan. And Roman was absolutely a plan, way later down the line. Of course, those plans change a million times. But I’ve got to think that there’s a good chance that maybe 2026 [or] maybe late 2025.”
Punk will team up with the OG Bloodline tonight against Solo Sikoa’s new Bloodline. Here is the Survivor Series card:
