An AEW star who has been a notable part of the tag team division since the promotion launched in 2019 is now a free agent.
As previously reported, WWE is heavily interested in bringing in The Lucha Bros. (Penta El Zero Miedo and Rey Fenix) once they’re free and clear. Penta’s deal was slated to end once November closed out, and that is the case.
Fightful Select reports that Penta is free and clear to sign with any promotion, including WWE. His brother and tag team partner will remain in AEW as the promotion opted to add time missed due to injury to his contract.
At one point, the tag team had been considered to win the AEW Trios Titles at AEW All In before things changed as the relationship between both sides strained in the summer. Fenix put out a statement regarding his AEW status on Saturday, which you can see here.
It’s unclear whether Penta will go straight to WWE or wait for his brother before coming in. If he doesn’t go to WWE right away, Penta is said to have heavy interest in marquee matches in the indies.
