Kota Ibushi On His Future: I Am At My Limit. It Could End At Any Time

Kota Ibushi knows his in-ring career as a wrestler is coming to an end soon.

The AEW star has dealt with various injuries in recent years, including an ankle injury that he suffered this past January when Pro Wrestling NOAH held its New Year 2024 show. The bout headlined the event as he battled Naomichi Marufuji. Ibushi suffered an ankle injury early in the match. He got surgery and returned to in-ring action this past July. Since then, he has only worked a handful of matches.

Kota departed from New Japan Pro Wrestling in 2023 before going to AEW, where he signed with the promotion. He hasn’t wrestled for AEW since WrestleDream in October 2024.

While speaking to Tokyo Sports this week, Ibushi discussed his career and future in the business.

“My legs are at their limit and it could end at any time. I wanted to keep going before I can’t do it anymore… I’m really at the limit, but I want to contribute to the world of professional wrestling before I end my career, so I’m currently appearing in various places.”

Ibushi has previously stated that he won’t return to AEW until Kenny Omega returns. Omega returns to the ring on January 5 at AEW x NJPW: Wrestle Dynasty.
