Rey Fenix’s situation with AEW escalated earlier this week as he waits for his deal to expire because AEW opted to add time to his deal due to missed time because of injury.
The belief is the time added is close to a year, and once that time passes, then he will reunite with Penta El Zero M as Lucha Bros, where they could head to WWE as WWE is interested in them.
Fenix responded to a tweet by Dr. Chris Featherstone of SportsKeeda, who was told that the real reason for the time being added to Fenix’s deal wasn’t due to the report of Lucha Bros. having talks with WWE and Tony Khan being upset about it. There is said to be a “real story” behind the situation with Fenix, which is reportedly a “huge injustice.”
Fenix stated in a response that it was the most accurate comment he has seen with reports about his status before, alleging that a doctor didn’t give him proper treatment for months.
In a recent edition of SportsKeeda’s Backstage Pass Q&A, WrestleVotes noted that those in WWE were surprised by his tweets and that he believed WWE would dig into the allegations.
WrestleVotes stated, “Hearing that there were those in the WWE that were surprised yesterday with the Rey Fenix tweets. Not to say that they’re not interested anymore, I’m sure that didn’t change, but there were some eyebrows raised over those tweets, especially if you’re going to put that out there publicly. I think WWE is going to do some digging into what’s going on……So that doctor one, you know, my phone started to buzz a little bit afterwards about just the surprise from a few WWE staffers that really didn’t have a pulse on to what may or may not be going on over there with Rey Fenix. So I just think it raised eyebrows throughout the whole wrestling world, and it did, certainly, you know, in Stanford.”
