WWE Sold A Lot Of Tickets For Chicago House Show Headlined By CM Punk Dream Match

WWE held a live event on December 29th from the Allstate Arena in Chicago, IL, with a dream match of CM Punk taking on GUNTHER as the main event.

Punk fell short in the steel cage match with the World Heavyweight Title on the line after GUNTHER went over, thanks to outside interference from Dominik Mysterio. This marked the first time that Punk shared the ring with GUNTHER.

Over the last several years, Punk has been a big draw for the Chicago market. He won the WWE Title at the Allstate Arena in 2011 at the Money in the Bank pay-per-view event. Even with AEW, he drew noticeable numbers at the box office.

WrestleTix, which does a great job of tracking ticket sales for all pro wrestling events, reported on Sunday morning that WWE had distributed 11,936 tickets with 871 remaining. They moved over 1,400 tickets in the two days leading up to the show, with it likely being a sell-out.

Punk’s 2024 has been memorable thanks to feuds with Drew McIntyre and Seth Rollins, but also hindered by a tricep injury. He meets Rollins in a singles match on the Raw on Netflix debut episode in one week.

At this same live event, Rollins beat Chad Gable while Rey Mysterio went over Dominik. Intercontinental Champion Bron Breakker and Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan also retained their titles.
