Cody Rhodes: Wrestling Has A Certain Bad Habit That Is Affecting All Wrestling Companies

Cody Rhodes is at the top of his game as the Undisputed WWE Champion and continues to follow the entire wrestling industry. By doing this, he has noticed one habit he doesn’t think is good for any wrestling company.

Appearing onĀ 2 Bears, 1 Cave, Rhodes noted that these companies exist in a bubble, which is something he feels needs to be broken free of in order to grow.Ā This was brought up while watching back a clip of Chris Jericho mispronouncing Bert Kreischer’s name years ago in AEW.

ā€œThis is not to bury what I was doing at the time and where I was, but Discovery Now, or I guess at the time, it was Warner Media, sent me to do that show to help with the other show, and I was honored to do it and excited to be picked, but wrestling has a bad habit, and this is in all companies everywhere, of not understanding [that] we’re in a bubble guys. There’s a whole outside world, there’s multiple mediums of entertainment, don’t be in a bubble. Don’t be afraid to do a little crossover, pure hardcore wrestling fans may not love it but there’s something on the show that’s for them already. I’m not burying where I formerly was [AEW] but not understanding the power, the magnitude of new eyeballs and crossing over. Also, I hate gatekeeping when it comes to what we do.ā€

Rhodes is slated to defend the Undisputed WWE Championship against Owens in a ladder match at the Royal Rumble.
