People In WWE Believe A Former Star May Be Returning To The Company

As WWE kicks off the new year and starts the road to WrestleMania, they may also bring in a former star who would be a welcomed addition to the roster.

Fightful Select previously reported those in AEW believed Malakai Black was finishing up or had already finished up with the promotion before confirming that Black isn’t expected to be back in AEW. Tony Khan had previously noted that he had Black under contract until 2027. Black is still listed on AEW’s official website.

In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that while the word backstage in AEW is that Black is gone, nobody would confirm his departure.

Meltzer wrote, “It’s been reported elsewhere, and one person close to the situation said they were confirming it to us but when we asked officially there was neither a confirmation nor a denial. Nobody expects him back.”

Meltzer also noted there has been talk in WWE that he was expected back when he is free and clear of his AEW deal. Meltzer wrote, “That’s been the case for a while, but evidently there has been talk in WWE creative about him of late.”

Years ago, when WWE allegedly contacted AEW stars about returning when Triple H took over main roster creative, Black was one of the contacted names.
