CM Punk: I Would’ve Had John Cena Eliminate Me To Win The WWE Royal Rumble

CM Punk and John Cena came short in their attempt to win this year’s WWE Royal Rumble as Jey Uso won it. Punk was eliminated in sequence, with Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns getting eliminated before a post-match brawl happened as Rollins attacked Reigns.

It was Uso and Cena in the final two before Uso eliminated Cena. During an appearance on Good Guy/Bad Guy with Daniel Cormier & Chael Sonnen, Punk shared his take that it should’ve been him and Cena as the last two guys in the match, with Cena going over as he continues his WWE retirement tour. Punk also explained he is more inclined to pitch ideas for feuds that would see him lose because of the chase.

Punk said, “The Rumble didn’t go the way I would have booked it, so to speak. Since we’re just peeling back the curtain so much here, I would have had me and Cena as the last two guys. I would’ve had Cena throw my ass over the top rope, you know? Because I think at this stage, I think losing is so much more valuable than winning. I’m almost afraid of me winning everything that I’ve ever dreamed of because what do I do then?”

Punk and Cena are slated to participate in the Men’s Elimination Chamber Match in Toronto on Saturday, March 1. The winner will get a World Title shot at WrestleMania 41 against either World Champion GUNTHER or Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes, depending on which champion Uso challenges.
