The Situation Between Miro And AEW Had Reportedly Gone “Radio Silent” Months Before His Release

Miro and Ricky Starks had their AEW release requests granted on Monday as the promotion let them go with them being able to sign with any promotion they want.

Miro has been away since Worlds End 2023. Miro had been making seven figures in AEW after signing a deal in September 2020 that was set to expire in spring 2022. Around that time, he signed a four-year extension that would keep him under contract with AEW until spring 2026.

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select reported that Miro had been discussed for potential creative throughout 2024 as he is healthy and ready to wrestle again. Fightful was “told the situation had gone radio silent for quite some time before the release was official. Miro had not been brought up creatively from what we’ve heard in about six months, and most everyone we spoke to in AEW had not expected to see him again.”

It’s believed WWE may be interested in bringing him back. Miro had been with AEW since 2020, after his departure from WWE. He was a former TNT Champion in AEW.
