WWE pulled Trinity Fatu (Naomi) from her scheduled media appearances promoting the upcoming film Queen of the Ring today, as reported by PWInsider. The decision, reportedly made by WWE, was to capitalize on the buzz surrounding Jade Cargill’s impactful surprise appearance at the Elimination Chamber Premium Live Event in Perth, Australia.
During the Women’s Elimination Chamber match to determine the number one contender for the Women’s World Championship, Naomi entered as the sixth and final competitor, seemingly poised to make a significant impact. However, Jade Cargill, who had not been previously announced for the match, made a dramatic entrance. Cargill quickly targeted Naomi, delivering her signature Jaded finisher and eliminating her from the match in relatively short order, stunning the audience.
In Queen of the Ring, Fatu plays the legendary wrestler Ethel Johnson, a key figure in women’s wrestling history. The film focuses on the story of Mildred Burke, another pioneering female wrestler, and is set to be released in theaters on March 7th.
