The next head-to-head battle between AEW and WWE is set for the last weekend in May.
Last month, AEW confirmed that this year’s Double or Nothing pay-per-view event will take place at the Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona, on Sunday, May 25. This marks the first time the show will be held outside of Vegas in history, aside from the Jacksonville, FL, pandemic shows in 2020 and 2021.
The latest episode of WrestleVotes Radio on SportsKeeda’s Backstage Pass Patreon revealed that the next Saturday Night’s Main Event special on NBC is slated for May 24th. It was added that the company plans to hold the Battleground PLE for NXT the following night on Sunday, May 25.
As a result, AEW’s DON PPV event will face direct competition with the NXT show. AEW usually holds pay-per-view events on Sundays outside of the NFL season, while during the season, they hold their events on Saturday nights.
It’s been reported that AEW has been trying to keep dates under wraps more after listing all dates months in advance last year after WWE opted to run a house show in December in the same city on the same date as AEW’s Worlds End PPV.
