CM Punk Names The Best Match Of His Wrestling Career: ‘I Was F***ing Angry’

CM Punk has worked many matches in his career, after decades in the business and working for major promotions, including WWE, AEW, and ROH. However, one match stands out for him.

John Cena is arguably Punk’s biggest and best rival in his wrestling career. They had a legendary WWE Title bout at Money in the Bank in 2011.

During an interview with Metro, Punk talked about his mindset going into the best match of his career, which was with Cena on the February 25th, 2013, episode of WWE Monday Night Raw, when Cena put his WrestleMania 29 WWE Title opportunity against The Rock on the line.

“I had the flu, I had a fever, and I was just f***ing angry. I said ‘Well, this is the main event of WrestleMania. I know you guys are doing that, but that’s what this is.’ So nobody could tell me anything, I did what I wanted. That’s probably the best match in my career. There was just an energy, and there was a buzz in the building. I think part of that is because I was just fueled by anger at that point in my career. It got me out of bed.”

Punk is slated to work a triple threat match with Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 41.
