Tony Khan Hails Ricochet As ‘One Of The Best Characters’ And ‘Top Stars’ In AEW

AEW President and CEO Tony Khan recently appeared on Z100 New York and praised Ricochet’s character development and importance to the company.

Khan lauded Ricochet’s recent evolution into a villainous persona on AEW television. “He certainly really leaned into it, has found himself, and is building one of the best characters I think in wrestling, which is the villain Ricochet that we see on TV right now,” Khan stated. “He’s one of the most compelling and interesting people in wrestling in my personal opinion. And that’s it.”

While acknowledging that fan opinions on top wrestlers vary greatly, Khan made his own assessment clear, linking Ricochet’s rise to a specific turning point. “It’s all opinions. You ask wrestling fans all over the world to name a top 20. If you asked a million fans to give you a top 20, you’d probably get 999,000 different top 20s,” he explained. “So, I think it’s important to see it’s all in the eye of the beholder, but Ricochet is one of the top stars to me right now. And a lot of that came through the Continental Classic.”

Khan believes the tournament was instrumental in Ricochet’s transformation. “And I think as the tournament went on, he became darker and darker by design, and he’s done a fantastic job with it and I’m incredibly impressed with him,” Khan said. He strongly endorsed Ricochet’s future with AEW, stating, “I’m proud that AEW has Ricochet on our roster for years to come and hopefully forever because that guy’s a star. I love working with him. And I think Ricochet is one of the best wrestlers on the planet right now and going forward.”
