John Cena Promises Something ‘Awesome’ For Upcoming WWE Shows

Following his shocking “pipebomb” promo on SmackDown, WWE Champion John Cena appeared at the Fanatics Fest in New York City and promised fans that the fireworks are far from over.

Cena, who is set to defend his title against CM Punk at Night of Champions, addressed the crowd at the official SummerSlam Kickoff event. After turning the tables on Punk on SmackDown by recreating the Straight Edge Superstar’s own iconic 2011 promo, Cena teased that he and his rival are “cooking up something awesome” for the upcoming SmackDown and their title match in Saudi Arabia.

“If you guys are digging what we’re doing on television, I hope you watch Night of Champions because it’s going to be effing great,” Cena said. “I hope you liked SmackDown, I hope you like the next SmackDown because we’re cooking up something awesome for you. Watch Night of Champions.”

The promo on SmackDown has been lauded as one of the best of Cena’s career and a defining moment of his heel run, which began at Elimination Chamber in March. During the segment, Cena broke the fourth wall to mention several non-WWE talents while a battered CM Punk lay in the wreckage of a table.
