Released WWE Star May Already Be Back With The Company

Shayna Baszler was released from her WWE contract just two months ago, but a new report suggests she may have already returned to the company in a backstage capacity. The former NXT Women’s Champion was reportedly working as a producer for a match on the most recent episode of WWE NXT.

Baszler’s Reported Producer Tryout

According to a report from Cory Hays of BodySlam.net, Shayna Baszler was listed internally as a producer for the match between Kelani Jordan and Lainey Reid on the Tuesday, July 8 edition of NXT. Baszler was reportedly listed alongside veteran producer Oney Lorcan for the bout.

The report notes that this may have been a tryout for a full-time position, as WWE often has potential new backstage agents shadow a more experienced producer to see if they are a good fit for the role. If hired, Baszler would be following a path similar to other former talents like Lorcan and Jason Jordan who have transitioned into producing.

A Surprising Return Following WWE Release

Baszler’s potential return is noteworthy given that she is still under the 90-day non-compete clause from her WWE release in May 2025. Baszler was let go as part of a round of talent cuts that also included notable names such as Braun Strowman, Dakota Kai, and Cora Jade. During her WWE tenure, which began in 2017, Baszler made a name for herself as a two-time NXT Women’s Champion and a three-time WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion.
